Day by Day

Since I have been home I have had the privilege of traveling. Not literally but virtually! My favorite tour guide has been Ray Vander Laan. (see video below) He has shown me where Jesus walked, where the Israelites spent time in the

desert with God and the remote little village where some of the disciples grew up. Every tour I'm challenged in my walk with the Lord. I am able to see and understand the context that Jesus was referring to when He spoke. My favorite reference is to, "Green Pastures."

I am from the west coast. In Oregon, lambs graze in immense belly deep grass fields. They are secured in their habitations by miles of fences and the monitoring of the owner driving by regularly to check their health and safety. They live in abundance and don't have to be concerned about where to find their next meal. When I saw the "Green Pastures" of Israel the concept of a shepherd became more vital.

In my life I'm not living in abundance. My health, finances, assets, and occupational resources are not a source of security for me! The fact that I have enough for each day is because God is providing!

As a family we are depending on the Lord, The Good Shepherd to lead, protect and provide. He is moving, guiding and directing us each day so that we are exactly where He wants us to be! Not in the ease of abundance but finding strength, care and security following the shepherd. My all time favorite hymn is Day by Day by Carolina Sandell. It has always applied to my life but now even more! "He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure. Gives unto each day what He deems best. As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure. This the pledge to me He made. Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting, ere to take as from a Father's hand." I am truly a helpless little lamb under the care of The Shepherd, day by day!

Psalm 34: 8-10

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing
