I'm peculiar in every sense of the word.
Strange or Odd: I actually say that I am highly entertaining. ALS has caused me to drool often, laugh and cry with no control, talk like a Wookie, have a crooked smile and walk like the bride of Frankenstein. I am unique even in the ALS community. I praise the Lord for giving me the sense of humor to match!
However, I am peculiar in a much more important way! The word peculiar comes from the Latin word Peculiaris meaning Private Property! I am singular belonging to only one!
Private Property: I am peculiar because I belong to the Lord. I am His!
Every day I have to choose to live in light of my position! I have an enemy that would love to devour me! Ephesians 6:12-13. He can't read my mind but my posture, facial expressions, and tone reveal when I am being had. I am still very competitive and I don't want to let Satan win! I have decided to follow Jesus! NO TURNING BACK!
John 4:67-69
After this a lot of his disciples left. They no longer wanted to be associated with him. Then Jesus gave the Twelve their chance: “Do you also want to leave?”
68-69 Peter replied, “Master, to whom would we go? You have the words of real life, eternal life. We’ve already committed ourselves, confident that you are the Holy One of God.”
This passage breaks my heart every time I read it! Jesus turned to ask His disciples if they would also leave Him. "Where would we go?" Peter knew who Jesus was and wanted to stay with Him! I feel God asks me when things are tough, "Will you leave me too?" I know who He is there can be NO TURNING BACK! I'm a truly PECULIAR... I belong to the Lord! As long as I live I am His!
