Study the Tapes

Joe and Jessa have you noticed that when a talented rookie quarterback makes his debut he usually has a strong performance. However, the reality of his success is halted or seriously challenged only a couple weeks into the season. The huge factor is that the opposing teams study tapes of him playing. They can anticipate the rookies moves based on what he did in previous situations.

Last week, your hero, Drew Brees broke a passing record! How did he overcome the "rookie wall" and become a successful veteran quarterback? The answer is that he put in a lot of hard work AND he studied the tapes too! He studied the opponents defense. He knew how to anticipate their attacks and figured out a way to complete the open pass! He didn't settle for defeat, he wanted to win!

All day, every day, Satan wants to stop us from living for the Lord! He throws temptations in front of us to get us distracted! We are not that complicated so he can easily figure out our tendencies and vulnerabilities. If I know what is going to trip me up then I can be prepared for his attack. The key is being willing to work hard to keep my mind focused on the Lord and looking for a way out!

I Cor. 10:12-13

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Phil. 1:6

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
