Joe and Jessa King David was a veteran warrior. It would have been easy to take the credit for victories. Instead, he took deliberate steps to honor God's power at work. One such account struck a chord with my heart. King David named the place where God defeated the Philistine army.
Baal Perazin, is the place where God BURST through on his enemies. God is the lord of the breaches. David ensured that long after he was gone people would remember what happened. God showed up as unstoppable force. David's reminder is priceless. It will not be the last time Israel has insurmountable enemies.
I have been inspired to name places, gifts, and events with God honoring names. In the process of specifically studying names with a lexicon even the list of genealogies in the Bible have come to life. God's power, plan and provisions can be highlighted. I want to take time to make sure I help everyone remember how God showed up and provided for me.
2 Samuel 5:20
