Awful to Awesome

Four years ago I was sitting in my lightweight transport wheelchair in the handicap section at Greentree church. This particular Sunday stands out in my mind because I was completely distracted by a guest in the front row. This gentleman was in a huge electric wheelchair and was being attended to by two care givers. I knew that because of ALS I could end up like that and I wanted to avoid being in his position as long as possible. I felt sorry for him!

This last Thursday I had an incredible opportunity. It was an event that I had been looking forward to for months! Ironically, the reason I was so excited had to do with my now huge electric wheelchair and conversion van. My daughter Jessa, had her first volleyball match of the season. The rather conspicuous wheelchair gave me the ability to fully enjoy every minute of my daughter's four game match. I was supported, comfortable, safe and had a front row seat! My mommy heart was ecstatic!

The actual piece of medical equipment that I thought represented a dreaded existence is now my very means to a fully amazing life. God in His grace has given me an wonderful family to enjoy and my wheelchair is the venue to keep making memories! What I once viewed as AWFUL is now AWESOME! Four years ago I missed a chance to celebrate that our guest was able to make it to church. If God can use an electric wheelchair to be an AWESOME thing there is nothing that is too AWFUL for Him to transform!

THANK YOU again to everyone who played a gracious role in the purchase of our conversion van. This story happened because you demonstrated God's love to our family!

James chapter 1 talks about trials

James 1:16-17 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
