Sustained

For the last three years I have been routinely meeting with ALS multi-disciplinary teams. They have all have come together to take care of me and monitor my health. They assess my breathing, reflexes, strength, coordination, range of motion, weight, diet nutrition, blood pressure and lab work. It is over 3 hours of being evaluated. To be honest it is not my favorite The whole focus is assessing my decline and trying to prepare me for the worst. I'm emotionally exhausted by the time we get home, but not yesterday!

I asked a couple people to pray with me that the team would see that God is

sustaining me! As a result, the repository specialist was excited about my diaphragm strength. We even got the giggles trying to get the mouth piece situated in my mouth. From head to toe my muscle strength had not diminished in the last three months. We were able to share the good news of being gifted cases of organic food supplements designed for my feeding tube. Astonishingly, for the first time ever, the doctor didn't ask if we wanted medicine for my Bulbar Affect laughter. He just joined in with me.

God is sustaining me fully! When the doctor finally acknowledged that my laughter was coming from my heart, not spastic muscles, I was excited.

Peace, comfort, hope and support are things that God supplies. No one can measure their impact on a scale, chart or even by comparing me to others. The fact that Lou and I can sit in the doctor's office and laugh together is a gift that God has given. Laughter is priceless when it is mingled with pain or suffering. Life is not easy for anyone and God is the only one who can SUSTAIN us through it all!

Ascribe to the Lord Glory
A Psalm of David.
Psalm 29

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!
