COMFORTABLE being UNCOMFORTABLE

Joe and Jessa I was in tears this morning when the Nicaragua missions team at Saluda Baptist Church shared their hearts! They not only shared how God worked through them but also in them. Their trip gave them opportunity to serve outside their comfort zones and God richly blessed. The missions trip coordinator wisely challenged the team that they needed to learn to be COMFORTABLE being UNCOMFORTABLE!
So often we want to hold on to what we already have! COMFORTABLE is easy, familiar, popular, profitable and pleasant! We go to years of school to get an education in order to master skills to land a career that will ensure a lifetime of COMFORT! Then God, in His divine wisdom starts tapping on the door and asking us if we would like to try something else! He is smiling! He knows that what He is offering is far better than what we have planned!

I'm convinced that God is speaking to me directly! Last week I read a quote along the same lines and I laughed! Even though I have been living with ALS for several years the idea of being COMFORTABLE being UNCOMFORTABLE is still a choice that I need to embrace! I don't often equate BEST with PAIN! God is asking me again to trust Him and not waste energy complaining, lose sleep worrying or try to come up with a different plan! He used the Nicaragua missions team to remind how awesome it is to be where He wants me to be! COMFORTABLE being UNCOMFORTABLE!
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
