Joe and Jessa in high school my mom made me a jersey to go under my uniform. On the front she ironed a graphic that said, "God, nothing will happen to me today that we can't handle together!" Going to play a game meant that I would have an opponent. I would be challenged, pushed, jeered, and pursued the whole time. It came with the turf!
Back in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve made a decision that forced all of humanity to enter a game against a vicious opponent. They were forced to leave the protection of the garden and live in a hostile environment. Satan, who initially posed as a helpful friend has been using every trick in the book to destroy mankind ever since! His end game has always been to keep us all from winning!
Every day we are up against an enemy who is relentless and determined to keep us defeated. If you ask me why bad things happen I will tell you it comes with living in enemy territory. He wants to keep the unsaved trapped in their lifestyle, while keeping the saved frustrated and rattled! This side of heaven we have God the Holy Spirit to rely on in every situation. The truth remains the same. "God, nothing will happen to me today we can't handle together!"
I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
