A Lump
Isaiah 64:8
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay,
you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

We are clay in our Father's hands. We are not referred to as a fine piece of wood, colorful paint, rare gem, precious metal, costly fabric or even beautiful stained glass. We are clay! We can be pounded, rolled, cut, twisted, stamped, pushed, pulled, formed, molded, shaped, spun, fired, painted, and glazed into endless shapes for countless purposes.
Nothing created has the right to challenge the maker. The creator is the one with the plan, knows the goal, and has paid the expenses for the process! The material is there to showcase the skill of the master. Clay is not beautiful on its own, so it is the best medium to highlight the maker. When you see a beautiful piece of pottery you don't compliment the clay, you focus on the amazing skill of the artist. The clay brought nothing to the table that was inherently beautiful!

I am clay! As a child of the all powerful God, I am His! He is my Lord! I have no business to question His design for me. As a lump of clay my ultimate purpose is to showcase Him. He is the one who is accomplishing something with me! The prayer of my heart is that when you see me He will be praised! Do you like my new ALS glaze? He picked it out special just for me!
Deuteronomy 26:19
He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God,
as he promised.
