Life Support

This last week I received my breathing apparatus. With ALS, the final culprit that usually steals life is respiratory related. My new doctor is proactive and prescribes the equipment needed on the initial visit. When he was describing the different machines one was named Trilogy. He explained that the name didn't have anything to do with spiritual things, only its function. Before the therapist brought the machines to our home she referred to the them as LIFE SUPPORT.

The machines that they gave me don't immediately improve the quality of my life, quite the contrary. The Trilogy is proving to need acquired skills. It is going to take hours of practice to be able to figure out how to benefit from the breath that it is designed to give me. I'm having problems because my muscles lock up and fight against the flow of air being pumped in and out of the mask. The therapist kept saying that over time my body will get in sync with the Trilogy. I should even be able to use it to sleep better at night.

I have been given true LIFE SUPPORT. The Lord is the ultimately the one who determines my days. I will have breath as long as God provides. Similarly, when I am not in sync with the Lord I end up fighting what He designed for my good. Over time I must learn to yield to Him in each situation. To benefit from all that God has for me! I should even be able to sleep peacefully at night.

To be honest with you, the thought of suffocating is my all time worst fear. I don't think that this is a coincidence. Learning to live each moment without being in fear of dying requires that I learn to trust my LIFE SUPPORT! Physically and Spiritually! If I practice and concentrate trying to be in sync with my machine and the Lord I will have more confidence.

Trilogy and Trinity LIFE SUPPORT! Breathe!!!

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God,

and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

Give all your worries and cares to God,

for he cares about you.

I Peter 5:6-7
