Making A Difference

When talking with friends and family the pain of past experiences often comes to the surface. The moments, events, tragedies and words that made an impact still have an emotional hold. The feelings that come when you are abandoned, violated, abused, rejected, mocked, belittled, bullied, and made to feel inadequate are hard if not virtually impossible to process. So often, years later, we are put in a situation where we have to relive that experience.

I now have questions to answer. What will I do when I am confronted by the memories that broke my heart? What will I do when I see evidence of someone going through the same thing? Will I be willing to get involved? Will I give someone else what I never had? Have I allowed the Lord to heal me enough so that I have something to offer?

Elementary school was not easy for my sister Koni. Well intended professionals said that she was limited. They discouraged her and made her doubt her abilities. Because she was shy, the lack of confidence compounded the damage to her little heart. It wasn't until high school that God allowed Koni to be taught and mentored by an amazing prayer warrior, her math teacher. Something happened that year. Koni, not only succeeded in math but her heart was encouraged. She went on to college and graduated with confidence, not in what she could do but what God could do through her!

This year you can find Koni working at her area public school. She is working with a team of teachers and helping the students who are in need of extra assistance. In the short time that she has been there the little ones have already figured out that they are safe with her. She is their advocate and biggest fan. Based on what she experienced, Koni knows exactly what they need. She is making a difference in little lives because she allowed God to work in hers. Thank you for being exactly where God made you to be Koni.

Koni's life verse

Philippians 4:13

For I can do everything through Christ,

who gives me strength.

Genesis 50:20

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.

Song: Koni's favorite... Blessed Assurance by Third Day
