blessings

Eight years ago my husband and I were planning to leave Christian education ministry and become house parents for children in South Carolina. We had the desire to be closer to my parents and be in ministry as a family. We were so excited about the possibility and we were only waiting for our home to sell. Needless to say our home didn't sell.

Ask me where I am today! I am living in South Carolina only 30 minutes from my parents!! Ironically, we are where we wanted to be because I have ALS. My children get to be by their grandparents for the first time in their lives, my husband doesn't have to work full time and is able to spend more time with me, we have a beautiful place to live that is wheelchair friendly, and we can minister as a family as God gives opportunities! God wasn't being mean eight years ago, He just knew what was coming. God knew that the best route to South Carolina was via New Jersey. He had divine appointments for us there! People who would impact, inspire, influence, teach, coach, mentor, disciple, show us love and demonstrate compassion were part of God's plan!

ALS can only be a blessing when God is the one in control. Two dear friends shared the song BLESSINGS by Laura Story with me at the beginning of my ALS journey. I don't think a week goes by that I don't sing it in my heart. The song reminds me that the hard times are God's mercies in disguise. He alone knows how to work all things out for good! I am learning to trust that God will ultimately answer my prayers in a perfect way in His time.

Quote Laura Story

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

Proverbs 16:9
