"He loves me, He loves me, He loves me..."

Daisy Day

The real question is will I love you NOT will you love me!

We live in a world where we are taught to seek the appreciation, respect, approval, acceptance, and love of others. If we don't we fear being rejected, abandoned, abused, alone, and mocked. This is not the way God designed us to live. This way of living leaves us with a broken heart.

God is the only one who can love me truly. For me to try to make someone else love me will never satisfy the longing of my heart. He is the one that will love me unconditionally. Nothing that I do will make Him love me more AND nothing I do will make Him love me less!

However, God has commanded me to love the people around me. I Corinthians 13 and Romans 12 tell me what it looks like to love. I am not to be kind to you so you like me. I am to be kind because I love you even if you don't love me in return. Ouch! So how can I do this.

The first thing I must do in order to love you is get a daisy! Then, thinking of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again to save me from my sins, start pulling petals off. " He loves me, He loves me, He loves me..." Only when I am secure, confident, and full of God's love can I be brave enough to love you!

God never told me to live in a way that makes you love ME. He just commanded me to love YOU! If our relationship is hard for me then I need to ask the author of love to help me NOT you! I can't love you the I Corinthians way on my own BUT it is the only way!

So today I might need a dozen daisies to remind myself of God's love for me before I love you. However, this is not about you being difficult it's about me learning to trust His love for me and obey.
